Isubilo (HOPE) Kabanana
Isubilo Kabanana is the Orphan ministry arm of LION of Zambia. The work is primarily focused on the needs of orphans in the shanty town of Kabanana in Lusaka. Pictured below are the children being supported.
We currently have 30 children enrolled in our sponsorship program. The kids we work with are either single orphans, having lost one parent, or double having lost two. They live with their guardians, usually an aunt, uncle, grandparent or in some cases their mothers.
We seek to provide for the child's physical, spiritual and educational needs. Practically this is worked out in us paying school fees for the children and buying their uniforms, books, supplies, shoes, backpacks, etc.
We also pay for medical care for some of the children and provide supplemental food for those that are HIV positive and are on the ARV medications. We are able as well to provide lunches for the kids either at their school or bring their lunch to them. The kids are required to attend school, church and any meetings that we have with them.
We try to have a monthly meeting with the kids and address various issues ranging from hygiene, health, HIV to bible studies, etc. Tutoring and extra classes are also offered to them to advance them academically.
